Romeo y Julieta was a unique colaboration between The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and the Tijuana Cultural Center CECUT. This production featured a new bi-lingual adaptation of Shakespeare's script, and a cross-border cast of professionals and high school students. The production toured several outdoor sites in San Diego, Chula Vista, and Tijuana. This production had a contemporary urban concept. It featured modern music and dance styles. The sound design helped set the many enviroments of Shakespeare's play in modern urban locations. The recorded sounds for this show were developed for playback on two CD players and often featured four discreet sounds coming from different locations at the same time. Here are some samples of the enviromental sounds used in the production. Keep in mind that in these samples four channels have been mixed down to two.
Here are images of the places this touring production performed. Each location was unique in its requirements.
