The Nerd
by Larry Shue

North Coast Repertory Theatre, Solana Beach CA

Directed by David Hay
Sound Design by M. Scott Grabau

The Nerd is about the hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he's never met but who saved his life in Vietnam—the visitor turning out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid "nerd" who outstays his welcome with a vengeance. In this play the answering machine in Willum's living room plays a small but important bit part in the production. Actors interact with the prop on stage and a series of sound cues. What follows is a page from the script and the sound files I created. Playback was done with SFX 5.0 software.
